Why this page exists

"What happens to my photos after I upload them?"

That is the question most people think but never ask. It is a fair question — you are uploading photos of people you love, recordings of your voice, and memories you have never shared with anyone else. You deserve a straight answer. Here it is.

🔒
Promise 01

Your photos are used for one thing only — your order.

When you upload photos, they go directly into your private folder on our servers — named after your unique Memory ID and accessible only to the part of our system that builds your album. No human at MemoryChain browses your photos. No algorithm studies them for any purpose other than placing them into your album layout. They are not used for anything else. Not now. Not ever.

The moment you download your completed package, your original photos are deleted from our servers. They do not stay. They do not move. They are gone — because they served their purpose.

Technical reality: Raw uploads deleted automatically after your first download

Promise 02

Your voice recording belongs to you — and only you.

Your voice is the most personal thing you give us. For Lite orders, it is delivered to your recipient exactly as you recorded it — unedited, unaltered, untouched. For Classic and Legacy orders, it is processed by our voice AI to produce a narration of your diary — and then your original recording is still included in your package alongside the narrated version.

We do not use your voice to train any AI model. We do not share it with any advertising platform. We do not store it beyond the delivery period. Your voice is passed to Minimax Audio for narration processing, and nowhere else. After that, it lives only in your download package — with you.

Technical reality: Voice file stored only under your private Memory ID folder in encrypted AWS S3

Promise 03

Your answers are read by an AI — not a person.

The answers you write to our guided questions — your memories, your feelings, the things you have never said out loud — are sent to GPT-4 (OpenAI) to generate your Memory Diary. No human at MemoryChain reads your answers. They go from your screen to GPT-4, and from GPT-4 into your diary. That is the entire journey.

OpenAI processes your text under their own data handling policies. We share only the minimum necessary — your answers, formatted as a prompt. We do not share your name, your contact details, or any identifying information alongside your answers. To GPT-4, your order is a set of memories without a face.

Technical reality: Text answers passed to OpenAI API without personally identifying metadata

Promise 04

Everything is deleted — on a fixed schedule, no exceptions.

MemoryChain has a hard deletion policy. Your data does not live with us indefinitely. Here is the exact schedule:

Immediately after your first download: Your original photos, voice recording, and intermediate processing files are deleted. What remains is only your finished package.

7 days after delivery: Your finished files move from active servers to secure cold storage — still accessible, but no longer on fast servers.

After 1 year (Lite/Classic) or 2 years (Legacy): Everything is permanently and irreversibly deleted. There is no exception, no extension, and no recovery after this date.

We do not keep your memories longer than we need to. When the time comes — they are gone from our side, and they live only where they belong: with you.

Technical reality: S3 lifecycle rules enforce automatic deletion — no manual step required

Promise 05

Your data stays in India. Our servers are here.

All your files — photos, voice recordings, diary content, and finished output — are stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the ap-south-1 region (Mumbai, India). Your data does not leave India's AWS infrastructure during storage and processing.

The only exceptions are the specific third-party processing steps — GPT-4 for diary generation, Minimax Audio for voice narration, and HeyGen for Legacy AI videos. These services receive the minimum data needed for their specific task, under their own privacy commitments. Beyond these processing steps, your data does not travel internationally.

We operate under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). Your rights as a data principal under this law apply in full to everything we hold about you.

Technical reality: AWS S3 bucket configured to ap-south-1 (Mumbai) region only

Promise 06

We will never sell your data. Not to anyone. Not ever.

MemoryChain does not have an advertising business. We have a gifting business. Our revenue comes from customers who pay us to create something beautiful — not from advertisers who pay us to show you things or study you.

This means there is no incentive — financial or otherwise — for us to sell, share, rent, or misuse your data. Your photos are not a product. Your voice is not an asset. Your memories are not inventory. They are the thing you trusted us with. And we treat them accordingly.

We will never contact you for marketing purposes without your explicit consent. We will never let an advertiser influence what we say to you or how we say it. MemoryChain products are completely ad-free — on this website, in our communications, and in your package.

Technical reality: Zero analytics pixels, zero ad tracking, zero third-party marketing integrations
What we will never do

Six things that will never happen to your data at MemoryChain.

These are not aspirations. They are commitments. If any of these were ever violated, we would deserve to lose your trust completely.

Sell your photos, voice, or answers to any third party
Use your content to train any AI model
Show your identifiable content to any other customer or the public
Contact you for marketing without your explicit consent
Keep your data beyond our defined deletion schedule
Let an advertiser access or influence anything about your order
